History
Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was established in 2006 as Bangladesh's only dedicated veterinary university, created to meet a national shortage of veterinarians and food-safety specialists. It was set up with a specific mandate to combine veterinary medicine, animal science, fisheries and food science and technology under one roof. It has built a strong regional reputation for training the country's DVM veterinarians and livestock scientists.

CVASU's campus in the Khulshi area of Chattogram includes a teaching veterinary hospital, animal farms and food-science laboratories on a relatively compact urban site.
