History
Built in the 1870s by Nawab Abdul Ghani on the site of an earlier riverside estate, Ahsan Manzil served as the residence and seat of the Nawabs of Dhaka. Badly damaged by a tornado in 1888, it was rebuilt soon after and later restored as a national museum that opened to the public in 1992.
