History
Bangladesh Agricultural University was established in 1961 in Mymensingh, built on the site of an earlier agricultural college, to train scientists for the country's overwhelmingly agrarian economy. It was the first agricultural university in the region and was structured on the American land-grant model, integrating teaching, research and extension. Its faculties of veterinary science, animal husbandry and fisheries were the first of their kind in Bangladesh and remain internationally recognised.
