History
Independent University, Bangladesh was established in 1993, among the earliest cohort of private universities founded after the 1992 Private University Act. It built its early reputation on a strong School of Business and an emphasis on environmental science, one of the first such programmes among Bangladeshi private universities. It has since developed liberal-arts-style general-education requirements alongside its professional schools.
