History
North South University was established in 1992 as Bangladesh's first private university, created after the Private University Act of 1992 opened higher education to non-government providers. It began operating from a rented building in Dhaka before moving to its permanent Bashundhara campus. It grew rapidly through the 1990s and 2000s to become the country's largest private university by enrolment.
