History
Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, named after the peasant leader and politician Hajee Mohammad Danesh, was established in 2001 in Dinajpur to bring higher technical education to Bangladesh's northern Rangpur region. It grew out of an earlier agricultural college and combined agriculture with engineering and general science from the start. It remains one of the main pathways into higher education for students from the country's drought-prone north.
