History
The University of Barisal was established in 2011 as the principal public general university for the Barisal division, in the historically riverine and flood-prone south-central region of Bangladesh. It began teaching with a small number of arts and science departments and has grown steadily since. It gives the greater Barisal-Bhola-Patuakhali area its own full public university for the first time.
